What is Purdue Women in HPC (WHPC)?

The WHPC program is part of the Information Technology at Purdue (ITaP) broader engagement initiative to expose and encourage women in the Purdue community to pursue research and careers in HPC and technology fields. Purdue WHPC is also an inaugural Chapter of the international Women in HPC organization.

Purpose

To increase workforce diversity and help promote and advance the representation of women in High Performance Computing (HPC) and technology.

Our Members

WHPC is a group of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff interested in high performance computing (HPC) at Purdue University. Anyone with an interest in HPC and supporting the advancement of women in the field is invited to join Purdue WHPC.

Activities

Activities include:

  • 2-3 meetings per semester with invited speakers who present on a variety of topics that align with high performance computing (HPC) and Information Technology (IT) with the goal of introducing our members to the HPC field and to provide access to professional role models that are “real-life” examples of Women in HPC (Women in Tech, Women in STEM, Women in Science, etc.).  Our invited speakers typically share information about their technical/research interests within a diverse set of disciplines and domains, discuss their career path and professional experiences, and provide examples of how they have used HPC/computational resources in their work or research (if applicable);
  • the opportunity to network with your WHPC community at Purdue and beyond;
  • scholarship opportunities to research computing related conferences (PEARC, Supercomputing, etc.);
  • a mentor program; and
  • exposure to external resources and opportunities.

If you would like to attend and/or are interested in future participation, please contact us at WHPC Info.
